Answer: To subdue Rana Pratap
Option a is the correct answer.
The Battle of Haldighati was a battle fought on 18 June 1576 between the armies of the Rana of Mewar, Maharana Pratap, and the Mughal emperor Akbar's forces, led by Man Singh I of Amber. The main aim of Akbar in fighting this battle was to subdue Rana Pratap and bring him under his suzerainty, as he had done with many other Rajput rulers in the region. Akbar wanted to secure a stable route to Gujarat through Mewar, which was a rich and prosperous province of the Mughal Empire. He also wanted to end the MughalRajput wars, which had been going on for decades.
Important Tips
Akbar expanded the Mughal Empire to cover most of the Indian subcontinent, from the Himalayas in the north to the Godavari in the south, and from Bengal in the east to Kabul in the west.
He fought and won many battles against various enemies, such as the Afghan usurper Hemu, the Sultan of Gujarat, the Gond queen Durgavati, and the Rajput rulers of Mewar.
He also annexed several regions, such as Malwa, Bengal, Orissa, Kashmir, and parts of Deccan.
He adopted a policy of religious tolerance and cultural integration with his subjects, especially the Rajputs, whom he befriended and married.
