The Government of the medieval period was a composite structure. Monarchs maintained control and power with the support of nobility of different clans. In India, the Turkish rule was started by the Slave dynasty King named Qutbuddin-Aibak. Persian and Arabic nobles were one of major group during Delhi Sultanate. The tussle between the Turkish and Tajik (Arab and Persians) nobles became intense after Iltutmish's death (1235) till the accession of Balban (1269). The Tughlaq dynasty was a Turko-Mongol or Turkic Muslim dynasty. Various racial groups were included in the Mughal nobility. The most prominent three groups were Turanis (central Asia), Iranis (Persians), Afghans, Shaikhzadas(Indian Muslims) and Rajputs. Hence, Government of the medieval period was the fusion of PersoArabic, Turko-Mongol and Indian Elements.
