C. Vakatakas
D. Gangas
Answer: Vakatakas
Option c is the correct answer.
The art of Ajanta was mainly patronized by the Vakataka dynasty, who ruled over parts of central and southern India from the 3rd to the 6th century CE. The Vakatakas were great lovers of arts, architecture, and literature. They provided monetary support to the artisans. The rock-cut Buddhist viharas and chaityas of the Ajanta caves were patronized by the Vakataka emperor Harishena. They are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ajanta caves contain some of the finest specimens of ancient Indian art, particularly expressive paintings that present emotions through gesture, pose and form. The paintings depict the past lives and rebirths of the Buddha, as well as scenes from the Jataka tales and other Buddhist legends.
