Rig Veda (1500-1000 B.C) is the earliest of the four Vedas. The Rig Veda is a set of ancient Indian texts comprising 1028 Sanskrit Hymns from the Vedic period and 10,600 verses devoted to the Rigvedic deities. It is arranged in 10 volumes, known as mandalas. The "Rig Veda" outlines one of the oldest types of yoga and provides knowledge about yoga and other spiritual disciplines. The hymns were sung in praise of Agni, Indra, Mitra, Varuna and other Gods. It contains the famous Purushasukta that explains that the four varnas, i. e., Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra were born respectively from the mouth, arms, thighs and the feet of the Creator.
